How can I create a Linux live USB that will retain the software i put on it?
Q. what I mean is how can I configure my live USB key to retain the data and changes I make to it. for example lets say that I am running Linux from my usb key and install some software or drivers. Normally as soon as i power off all those changes are gone. how can i set it up so all the changes i make stay put?

A. Using mint just install to a usb and should save to the usb. Do not install live as it wont save settings. Just ask in the Mint forums

Puppy can be run using frugal install (the recommended way, the os being150mb+ a save file).
Puppy can be run from a cd/dvd-r and the changes saved to the same cd.
Called multisession. The cd has to be burnt open.

camera sd card
ssd drive
network
The save file can be placed and loaded on any of the above except on a none rewrite cd.
You can also have multiple save files choosing which to use at boot up.

Puppy can be also booted up from a cd and will then load the system from the the media frugal puppy is on.
No partitioning is required as a puppy frugal will install on a windows nfts drive, Fat32 or Ext2,3,4.

How do I download openSUSE onto a live USB?
Q. How much space does it require to boot? Is there anything that I have to download onto the USB stick to make it ready? And in general, how DO you download something to a live USB? Please give me a step by step guide.
